Auto lowers resolution and draw distance during slowdowns, then restores them when there is room.
Recovery restores your car on a nearby road and resets this job.
Automatic: default for new players. Use gas, brake, steering and handbrake. Launch, clutch and gear changes are handled for you. Select D / N / R using the buttons or keys 4 / 5 / 6; stop before changing direction. Brake always brakes.
Semi Manual: choose gears with Q / E or GEAR − / +. The clutch and ordinary restart are assisted. Your chosen gear is held at the limiter; shift up yourself.
Manual: hold CLUTCH / Shift, select first with E / GEAR +, add gas and release the clutch. Clutch in to shift or stop. Select reverse below neutral while stopped. Use X / IGNITION with clutch in or neutral after a stall; physically valid rolling restart remains available.
Rig Rocket: its ten-speed converter hardware has no clutch pedal in any mode. Automatic shifts for you; Semi Manual and Manual keep gear selection in your hands.
Change modes before starting or in the pause menu. Mode changes preserve vehicle state and progress. Assisted modes restart an available stalled engine when you press gas; a disabled engine must be repaired.
Touch: hold several buttons at once. Each finger is independent. Landscape gives you more room.
Speeding: watch the displayed game speed limit. A nearby marked patrol must see you exceed it by more than 5 km/h for two seconds. That patrol starts the pursuit. Responding units arrive later from distant roads. Escape grants a 20-second grace period.
Handling: Tyres build grip progressively from slip and suspension load. Steering, braking and power share that grip; the steering rack gives progressive, speed-dependent wheel angles. Pavement has stronger grip; grass reduces traction and increases rolling resistance at each wheel. Ease off or brake for tight corners. The handbrake releases rear grip; oil and punctures change the handling.
Wheelspin: engine revs and wheel speed are linked through the clutch. For a 370Z burnout, hold the clutch, select first and build revs; release the clutch while holding GAS and BRAKE together. The front-drive Elantra spins its front tyres with GAS and H-BRAKE. Ease off to regain grip.
Airtime & crashes: four-wheel suspension follows real terrain. Crests can launch your car; steering and pedals cannot steer it in mid-air. Hard landings, impacts and rollovers damage the body. Severe front and side damage affects power and alignment. Repair at the garage, or use R to recover.
Gadgets: press 1 / SPIKES to puncture pursuing tyres, 2 / OIL to lay a slick, or 3 / SMOKE to block police sight. Each drops behind your car. Collect turquoise supply crates for more. You can damage and disable cruisers by ramming them. Lamp posts can be knocked down.
Music: Six original retro tracks, including River Valley Run, Yellowhead Afterburn and Whyte Avenue Groove. MUSIC switches the radio on or off; NEXT changes tracks. SFX controls engines and sirens separately.
Your job: each session starts on a random connected road. Pickups and drop-offs are chosen from roads across Edmonton. Longer driving routes pay more: $250 plus $300 per kilometre, rounded to $25. The offer shows the driving distance and payout. Collect the package at the red marker, then drive through the red drop-off. Delivery cash is paid immediately. Lose the police for 8 seconds to earn an extra 25% getaway bonus. Supply crates refill gadgets; they are separate from package markers. Buildings block police sight. Pursuing cruisers can make deliberate contact and reach 210 km/h, so use corners, cover and your gadgets.
Garage: earn the Elantra → 370Z → Rig Rocket → Murciélago. G opens the catalogue; set the nearest gold G waypoint and park in a service zone to buy or repair. There are 644 garages across the connected driving network, all within 2 km by road. The catalogue shows the nearest garage and route distance. F enters or exits a stopped car. Space is the handbrake. R recovers your car. Cash and purchases carry over from earlier versions.
Inside WEM: stop outside an entrance and press F / ENTER-EXIT to walk. GAS / W and BRAKE / S move forward and back; steering turns you. CAMERA switches between a close walking view and first person. The map follows your floor; tap it for the full mall. Use F / ENTER-EXIT at a marked LIFT to change floors, or walk the stairs. Explore the Santa Maria, Ice Palace, Galaxyland, World Waterpark, BRBN St., Europa Boulevard and adventure golf. Map Inspector has indoor shortcuts.
Map controls: Tap the minimap or press M to open it and pause driving. Pinch with two fingers to zoom; drag to pan; tap a point to set your own waypoint. Tap your red waypoint again to clear it, or use Clear waypoint to restore mission guidance. Mouse wheel and + / − also zoom. My location recenters; City shows the overview. The GPS route and selected destination are red. A route follows roads to the nearest access, not through buildings or across open ground. Tap outside the map, choose Close map, or press M / Escape to return to driving.
Edmonton map: citywide roads and 2019 building footprints, trees, waterways and finer NRCan terrain are built into the game. The complete world loads before you drive; no city data is downloaded during play. Hills use real elevation without exaggeration. Sampling resolution does not guarantee survey accuracy. The seven major corridors use 1,545 road-specific cross sections, with municipal travel directions and available OpenStreetMap lane evidence. Other lanes and all pavement widths remain estimates. Wider arterials have multiple marked lanes and traffic uses those lanes. Road widths, water levels and bridge heights are game approximations; this is not a navigation map.
Speed zones: the game includes all 17,522 records from the City’s published speed-zone snapshot, last updated September 2024. Matched roads use that data, including playground limits at the game’s 4 p.m. afternoon. Unmatched roads show EST. for a game estimate. Advisory speeds are not enforced limits.
Trees & crossings: City-recorded boulevard and park trees now surround the roads. Drive the covered sections of the two 97 Avenue tunnel carriageways, and find the Walterdale arches and High Level/Low Level steel trusses. Major bridge approaches and complex junctions have smooth, connected grades. Bridge and tunnel dimensions are simplified; the chase camera ducks under roofs.
Landmarks: find original exterior models of Stantec Tower, Rogers Place, CN Tower, EPCOR Tower, Manulife Place, Commerce Place, City Hall, the Alberta Legislature and Muttart Conservatory. Jasper and Whyte feature original heritage storefronts and illuminated venue signs. Their shapes and main heights follow reference data; smaller details are simplified.
